Who Opens Emails Now?

Phil & Myself have just come away from a 2 days course about CRM’S & Email Marketing, and boy is our New InfusionSoft System Amazing, you can do literally everything on there, we needed a 2 day course just to find out how to use 3/4 of it!

The Question that comes from this is Do we open emails anymore? We are currently studying a gentleman called Gary V and hes all for Social Media & that being the way forward, he also says one email marketing campaign will only have a 20% open rate! I know i only open emails from people i am expecting them from not from companies trying to sell!

So maybe we are taking the wrong approach, would we have more people open our emails if we did exciting brand talk before we went for the sale? That question i suppose depends on the company and their customers because everyone is different and there is no right or wrong answer no matter what people say!
